Grab your tickets and roll on over to Digress on Thursday, March 5th for an exciting tasting with a brand new producer for us, Calluna Vineyards! We’re showcasing 5 wines this evening, presented by ambassador Erin Mosier. This one is a steal, friends, see you there!
Calluna Vineyards is a small, estate-driven winery based in the Chalk Hill area of Sonoma County. It was founded in the early 2000s by David Jeffrey, who left a corporate career on the East Coast to pursue formal studies in viticulture and enology before apprenticing in Bordeaux. That formative time in France shaped his philosophy: thoughtful farming, balanced blends, and wines built with structure and longevity in mind. In 2005, Jeffrey planted the estate’s first vineyards, focusing on Bordeaux varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec, and later expanding into Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon.
The name “Calluna” comes from the botanical term for heather, a resilient flowering plant, and a fitting symbol for a hillside estate built from the ground up with intention and patience. Today, Calluna produces limited quantities of predominantly Bordeaux-inspired wines that balance California ripeness with classical restraint. The style is polished but not overdone by any means, structured yet approachable - wines that show both precision and character, making a compelling argument for your presence! Just $25!
