We’re thrilled to welcome back our friend in all things Italian, Vito Candela for a Cellar Seminar focused on one of our favorite regions, Piedmont!
With roots tracing back to 1847, Poderi Gianni Gagliardo began in Alba with the Colla family, and a love for Dolcetto. It wasn’t until 1961 that Paolo Colla saw his dream of Barolo realized with the purchase of their estate in La Morra. Through the generations, the wines have maintained significant finesse and longevity, establishing the winery as one of the most respected in the region.
In 2017, the family purchased Tenuta Garetto in the village of Agliano Terme. Here, they produce Barbera from what is considered the pinnacle of the grape’s potential, in the newly established DOCG of Nizza, in Asti. These wines are on another level - and a great part of what makes this event so exciting.
We’ll be diving into Barolo and Dolcetto, of course, but with the addition of Nizza, a white by the name of Favorita that you may not have experienced, and another surprise or two, we get a more kaleidoscopic view of some of the more exciting things happening in Piedmont these days.
Come hungry, we’ll have an extensive offering of cheese, charcuterie and snacks to fill your belly.
This event is in the Cellar, so please remember to bring a sweater!
